FESTIVAL PROGRAMME
The Baltic Sea Festival’s co-founder Esa-Pekka Salonen invites you to the Baltic Sea Festival’s 20th anniversary together with pervious festival artists such as Nina Stemme, Kremerata Baltica and Gidon Kremer. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Víkingur Ólafsson’s piano recital, Dima Slobodeniouk conducting Rachmaninov’s fantastic Second Symphony or the baroque ensemble L’Arpeggiata, whose inspired playing will get the whole Vasa Museum swaying. Karin Rehnqvist’s “Silent Earth”, which addresses the climate crisis, will be getting its Swedish première during the festival, and the Swedish Radio Choir with its chief conductor Kaspars Putniņš will be conveying a vision of a new way of life in harmony with nature. The 2022 seminars will concern sustainability, taking the 20 years of the Baltic Sea Festival as their point of departure, but also endeavouring to mark out our joint way forwards. This year’s festival will show the importance of education to a sustainable society. And the organisation Cirkus Cirkör together with chamber musicians from the SRSO will be creating two completely new works during our Family Day, which will be for all ages.
