Meet the Music

Discover your musical connections at Berwaldhallen

There’s something truly special about experiencing live music. Whether it’s calming, uplifting, or deeply atmospheric, the encounter creates a deeper human connection. And when that moment is shared with others, the experience becomes even more powerful.

During the 2025/2026 season at Berwaldhallen, we invite you to countless musical encounters. We welcome our new guest conductors – Maxim Emelyanychev with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Krista Audere with the Swedish Radio Choir – as well as our Artists in Residence: conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen and violinist Janine Jansen. During the year, audiences will be treated to a unique concert experience featuring Jonathan Johansson in collaboration with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, the acclaimed production Disco Inferno returns to the stage – bringing back its signature blend of glitter, groove, and symphonic brilliance.

In addition, world-class soloists and conductors will join us for a season filled with extraordinary music – all under the theme Mirrors & Reflections.

Big Adventures for Small Ears

Throughout the year, children and families are invited to enjoy musical activities and imaginative performances – including the colorful concert Pippi Meets the Radio Symphony Orchestra, where Astrid Lindgren’s beloved character encounters classical music in an adventure for the whole family.

  • Mirrors & Reflections

This season’s artistic theme interlaces the concert program with nuanced elements of light and longing, darkness and despair, nostalgia and hope. Through this thematic lens, the season forms a rich tapestry of emotion and contemplation — where music becomes a mirror to the human spirit, revealing its deepest dreams and desires.

What concert are our musicians most eager to experience?

  • "I’d like to recommend the concert in early November featuring music by Ravel and Lutosławski. As someone who’s still relatively new to the orchestra, there’s so much music I’ve yet to play for the first time – and this program includes pieces musicians truly long to perform! Both Mother Goose and Shéhérazade by Ravel are wonderful works with many beautiful woodwind passages. And we also get to perform Esa-Pekka’s exciting music. But above all, I’m looking forward to playing Lutosławski’s fantastic Concerto for Orchestra – winding, beautiful, yet also challenging and bombastic. That piece has it all!"

  • "Ligeti is a composer we in the Radio Choir have worked with a lot in recent years, especially diving deep into the piece Drei Hölderlinphantasien, which we also recently recorded. Now I’m looking forward to continuing with his Requiem, this time together with Esa-Pekka Salonen. Hopefully, we’ll also get to perform something written by the maestro himself!"

    – Anna Graca, alto

  • "It’s incredibly hard to choose just one concert I’m most looking forward to, but if I had to pick, it would be Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor. Two of my absolute favorite works in one evening – that’s hard to beat. And I’m really looking forward to playing with Emelyanychev again. He brings a unique and vibrant energy, and I can’t wait to hear how he’ll put his mark on that music."
