Salonen, Jansen & Ligeti's Requiem

Part three of Esa-Pekka Salonen's residency, where the honorary conductor leads the the Swedish Radio Choir, the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and soloists Malena Ernman and Jennifer France in György Ligeti's Requiem, written for the choir in 1965 and used by Stanley Kubrick in his movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. Additionally, Janine Jansen joins the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Sergei Prokofiev's lyrical and virtuosic Violin Concerto No. 1 in D major. The concert begins with the Swedish premiere of Salonen's Tiu  (Finnish for a dozen), which was written for the 20th anniversary of Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
