Musical storytelling: Schubert the dramatist

Besides the hundreds of lieder and the song cycles Winterreise and Die schöne Müllerin, Schubert wrote several operas and ballad operas. Lyric opera tenor Michael Schade gives us a taste of Schubert the dramatist. It will be even more dramatic in Henze’s orchestral adaptation of one of Schubert’s most famous songs, Erlkönig. In addition, we will starting Ludwig van Beethoven‘s 250th anniversary early with Frank Peter Zimmermann’s interpretation of Beethoven’s violin concerto, under the guidance of Chief Conductor Daniel Harding. Friday´s concert will be livestreamed at Play.
