The City in the Sea

At the Finnish Institute, musicians from the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra present a programme that moves between sea, dream and poetry. Kaija Saariaho’s evocative Laconisme de l’aile is paired with Matthew Whittall’s The City in the Sea, which draws on Edgar Allan Poe’s vision of a city submerged beneath the waves, before the concert concludes with Debussy’s masterful Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp.
