This concert has been cancelled - Shostakovich’s Ninth Symphony

After their victory over Nazi Germany, the Soviet regime expected a monumental, celebratory work from Dmitri Shostakovich. What they got instead was harsh, biting criticism hidden behind what initially sounds like cheery, easy listening music. The concert also features the orchestra’s own Bengt Rosengren and Lisa Viguier Vallgårda as soloists in Witold Lutosławski’s Double Concerto for Oboe, Harp and Chamber Orchestra.
