Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2

Sergei Rachmaninoff’s breathtakingly beautiful Piano Concerto No. 2 is perhaps the most beloved of all piano concertos. We will be hearing the music interpreted by the young French pianist Lucas Debargue, as well as works by two British composers: Edward Elgar’s magnificent Enigma Variations and Benjamin Britten’s Canadian Carnival – influenced by folk music and composed just a few months after leaving England for North America. The young rising star Maxim Emelyanychev, chief conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
