Mühlrad's Clarinet Concerto

Multi-talented composer Jacob Mühlrad has made a big splash in recent years. In this concert, soloist Magnus Holmander premieres Mühlrad’s brand new clarinet concerto, commissioned by the Swedish Radio’s concert hall, Berwaldhallen. Additionally, conductor Martin Fröst leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Felix Mendelssohn’s third symphony.

The concert will be broadcasted in Swedish Radio P2 Friday May 3 at 7:03 pm. The clarinet concerto will be broadcasted on Swedish Television May 4 at 7 pm.

Stay for the bonus concert Thursday April 11th beginning shortly after the regular programme: pianist David Wärn joins three string players from the orchestra in Andreas Hallén’s romantic piano quartet!

BONUS CONCERT APR 11: HALLÉN’S PIANO QUARTET

Composer, conductor and lecturer Andreas Hallén was an important figure in the Swedish musical establishment around the turn of the 20th century. Much of Hallén’s music shows inspiration from contemporary German composers such as Richard Wagner, and his romantic piano quartet written in 1870 is no exception.
