Brahms’ Second Symphony

After the birthing pains of his Johannes Brahms’ first symphony, work on the second was comparatively smooth and effortless. His unburdened spirits are reflected in the optimistic, uplifting mood of the music. The symphony is interpreted here by acclaimed Swiss conductor Lorenzo Viotti who debuts in Berwaldhallen, also performing Zoltán Kodály’s stirring Dances of Galánta.
