Five young conductors take to the podium to lead the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in music by Stravinsky, Saint-Saëns and Sibelius. Free! (Pre-registration required.)

For three intensive days, five of the Nordic countries’ most promising young conductors have worked with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, side by side with the internationally acclaimed conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste. Now they meet the audience in a concert that reflects both the future and tradition, with music by Stravinsky, Saint-Saëns and Sibelius. The concert also features the young cellist Hugo Svedberg, who has already made a name for himself both in Sweden and internationally.

The program begins with Stravinsky’s revised Wind Symphony from 1947, continues with Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto in A minor – a virtuoso and emotionally charged classic – and concludes with Sibelius’s second symphony, a masterpiece characterized by both inner drama and vast soundscapes.
