The Trials of Love

The disguises and trials of love take center stage when Principal guest conductor Maxim Emelyanychev leads the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra in a program where dance drives the story forward. The evening opens with John Adams’ The Chairman Dances – an exuberant, motoric scene in constant motion. Then, Alina Ibragimova meets Igor Stravinsky's Violin Concerto, where sharpness and elegance coexist with unexpected twists. After intermission, the concert continues thorugh the world of French Baroque: Jean Baptiste Lully's music for Le Bourgeois gentilhomme (The Bourgeois as a Nobleman) and Jean Philippe Rameau's suite from Les Indes galantes, full of colour and seductive splendour.
