Tamestit, Harding & Berlioz

Inspired by Lord Byron’s romantic poem Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage, Hector Berlioz composed the Harold in Italy symphony. Now, world-renowned viola player Antoine Tamestit gives melancholy wayfarer Harold a musical voice, led by Music Director Daniel Harding. Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 is a tempestuously beautiful piece that begins suddenly, ‘in medias res’, as if the audience opened a door behind which the orchestra is already playing.
