Strauss’ Elektra suite

The Classical Artist of the Year on P2 is trumpeter Elinor Bengtson, and in this concert, she will perform Alexander Arutiunian's Trumpet Concerto, a cornerstone of the trumpet repertoire known for its lyrical style that combines Eastern European folk music with classical harmonies and is . Bengtson will be accompanied by the Finnish conductor Eva Ollikainen and the Radio Symphony Orchestra, who will also perform a world premiere by the Estonian composer Mirjam Tally and a suite based on Richard Strauss' modernist and psychological opera Elektra.
