Discover Ravel’s Boléro

Welcome to a musical discovery program that leads to one of the most famous rhythms of classical music. Chief conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra begin with Silvestre Revuelta's pulsating Sensemayá – seven minutes of dense magic and rhythmic heat. Then, P2’s Classical Artist, Ami-Louise Johnsson takes center stage in Kurt Atterberg's suite for violin, viola and orchestra: three movements with both lyricism, musical joy and dreamlike sounds. Johannes Brahms deepens the listening experience with his variations on a theme by Haydn, where the same melody is transformed over and over into new colours and temperaments. And finally: Ravel's Boléro – the slowly growing crescendo machine where a simple rhythm becomes an entire orchestral storm.
