Percussion virtuoso Mika Takehara has a prominent role in Jacob Mühlrad’s Kata for two Cellos and Percussion, inspired by predetermined movement patterns in Japanese martial arts. The piece has – naturally enough – a strong visual dimension in addition to its acoustic one, and the music has been composed both for the acoustic and the choreographic result. British cellist Marie Macleod will also perform a new cello suite by Sven-David Sandström, Four Pieces for Solo Cello.
