Chamber music for string quartet

When composing her evocative quartet Carrot Revolution, the American composer Gabriella Smith was influenced by a diverse set of sources, including Bach, Gregorian chant and Celtic folk music. The second featured composer is Igor Stravinsky. His rhythmic and intense Concertino for String Quartet was composed in 1920. To conclude, we will hear Paul Hindemith’s elegant second string quartet from 1918, composed during World War I when the composer served at the front.
