A Requiem in Our Time

A Requiem in Our Time is a gripping requiem written in memory of the Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara’s mother. The piece became the composer’s breakthrough in 1954. Loss is the subject also of Edvard Grieg’s Sörgemarsj over Rikard Nordraak – an elegy to Grieg’s close friend and colleague, the composer Rikard Nordraak, who died when he was only 24 years old. Here we will hear the version for brass, arranged by Geoffrey Emerson in 1970. The concert was recorded in the Berwaldhallen Hall, 26th of February 2021.
