More Festival

Here we collect movie clips, both our own and from our partners. Everything from shorter trailers to whole talks that are not included in the festival program.

TALK - GISLE KVERNDOKK (NO) AND GURI SOGN ANDERSEN (NO)

The talk takes place at Voksenåsen in Oslo between composer Gisle Kverndokk and marine biologist Guri Sogn Andersen, with Norwegian Broadcasting’s Arild Erikstad as moderator. In his new opera ”Upon This Handful of Earth”, Gisle Kverndokk, one of Norway’s most respected composers, puts environmental issues in the spotlight. Guri Sogn Andersen, currently working as a researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research in Oslo, has written a book about plastic debris in the ocean, where she sorts myths from facts and present hope for solutions. During the conversation they will explore the role of art and science as a force for consciousness and change.

TALK - MARIA WOLRATH SÖDERBERG (SE) AND MICHAEL GILEK (SE) (in Swedish)

Södertörn University is one of the partners of the Baltic Sea Festival. This talk concerns climate behavior and science denial. We know what it takes to save the climate, but we do far from everything we need to. At the same time, there are people who for different reasons do not believe in what the research says. How did this happen, and how do we increase the pace of climate work? About this and much more, Maria Wolrath-Söderberg, associate professor of rhetoric speaks with Michael Gilek, professor of environmental science. Mattias Goldmann, CEO of the think tank Fores, leads the conversation.
