FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS IN P2

Almost all of the Baltic Sea Festival’s concerts are usually broadcast live on P2. This year, with a cancelled festival, the editors have dug into the archives and during week 35 they instead presented highlights from previous festivals, including Mahler’s third with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Esa-Pekka Salonen from the festival in 2010. P2’s Sam Jakobsson is a of the editors behind the selection:

– We have chosen concerts from previous years in collaboration with the producers in Berwaldhallen who recorded the concerts and have the best knowledge of the festivals’ highlights. In the end we got stuck for a few different concerts with Esa-Pekka Salonen as the common denominator. He conducts Mahler and Britta Byström, Nina Stemme as Elektra in Richard Strauss’ opera, Beethoven’s seventh, and his own Piano Concerto.
