THE BALTIC SEA FESTIVAL’S COLLABORATIVE PARTNERS 2018

Baltic Sea Future is the Baltic Sea Festival’s newest collaborative partner, this year’s festival is their first as an official partner. Baltic Sea Future is a platform for innovative ideas, partnerships and funding solutions with a focus on local leadership. The organisation brings together politicians, officials, researchers and business to find new sustainable solutions across industry boundaries. Together with Baltic Sea Future we want to continue to be a platform for discussion and dialogue about environmental issues in the Baltic Sea region.

The Göteborg Opera presents opera, dance, musicals and concerts and is the principal venue for the performing arts in Western Sweden. We will be collaborating with the Göteborg Opera on Verdi’s Requiem, jointly performed by the Royal Swedish Orchestra, the Royal Swedish Opera Choir and soloists together with the Göteborg Opera Choir on August 24th at Berwaldhallen.

The Royal Swedish Opera is Sweden’s national venue for opera. Our long-term partnership has resulted in a number of concerts and performances through the years – both at Berwaldhallen and at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. This year, we will be collaborating on Verdi’s Requiem, jointly performed by the Royal Swedish Orchestra, the Royal Swedish Opera Choir and soloists together with the Göteborg Opera Choir on August 24th at Berwaldhallen.

The Royal Dramatic Theatre, colloquially known as Dramaten, is Sweden’s national stage for the dramatic arts. This year, we will be collaborating with Dramaten on the opera Autumn Sonata – based on Ingmar Bergman’s film – which premiered in Helsinki in 2017. Dramaten and the Baltic Sea Festival will be commemorating Ingmar Bergman’s centenary by delving deep into Bergman’s preparations for the film, as well as with an introduction prior to the successful opera, Autumn Sonata, performed by the Finnish National Opera at Berwaldhallen on August 27th.

The Raoul Wallenberg Academy is a foundation whose purpose is to address the forces for good in society in order to promote and develop good leadership. The Raoul Wallenberg Academy is a long-term partner with which we collaborate to highlight matters of leadership through seminars, knowledge sharing and events. The Baltic Sea Festival’s General Manager, Michael Tydén, often speaks about the importance of altruistic leadership that prioritizes long-term decisions across generational and national boundaries, not limited by different spheres of influence.

The Swedish Institute is a public agency whose remit is to promote interest and trust in Sweden around the world. The Swedish Institute works with culture, education, science and business to strengthen relationships and promote development. During the Baltic Sea Festival, the Swedish Institute will be holding lectures and seminars focusing on the Baltic countries.

The Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) is an independent institute and a platform for research and information on international affairs. UI has been organising seminars and discussions during the Baltic Sea Festival for many years, focusing on current political issues in and around the Baltic countries.

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the Baltic Sea Festival’s most long-standing partners, and has been with us since the very beginning in 2003. Over the years, the WWF has helped us draw attention to and spread knowledge about the sensitive environment of the Baltic Sea with many thought-provoking seminars and other initiatives.
